About TownTake

Our Mission

TownTake was created to enhance local Put & Take programs by providing a digital platform where residents can discover donated items and give their unwanted goods a second life – all while helping our communities reduce landfill waste.

Our goal is to make reuse more accessible, convenient, and efficient for everyone in the community. By connecting residents digitally, we help reduce unnecessary trips to transfer stations and ensure that more items find new homes instead of ending up in landfills.

Award-Winning Student Project

TownTake won the Congressional App Challenge for Connecticut's 2nd District in 2024!

This application was developed by four talented high school students from Glastonbury High School who identified a need in their community and created an innovative solution.

Community Focus

The team worked closely with local transfer station managers and community members to understand the challenges and opportunities of existing Put & Take programs.

From Concept to Reality

What started as a Congressional App Challenge submission has evolved into a fully functional platform that communities can adopt to enhance their existing reuse programs.

We're proud to offer TownTake as a free service to participating towns and their residents, making sustainability more accessible to everyone.
